Hands-on approach to mental illness

With the aim of combatting the fear and misconceptions surrounding mental illness, Castle Peak Hospital’s Mind Space museum enables visitors to experience hallucinations, similar to the sensory experiences mentally ill patients encounter, by way of rooms that utilise virtual reality (VR) technology.   A group of secondary students recently embarked on a journey through Mind Space after registering and receiving patient wristbands. This unique mental health experience museum provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the development of psychiatric services in Hong Kong.   Displays in the museum showcase intriguing relics, including the evolution of restraints and handwritten patient records. The Centre for Health Protection today confirmed further details of the itinerary of two local COVID-19 cases with the N501Y mutant strain resulting in more people being placed under compulsory quarantine.   Epidemiological investigations revealed that cases 11643 and 11672 attended a family gathering with relatives of case 11672 on April 13 at Fung Hing House of Hing Wah (II) Estate in Chai Wan.   Three of the attendees then had another gathering at their home at 37 Fuk Wing Street in Sham Shui Po, with cases 11773, 11793 and 11797 on April 18.   In accordance with the latest information, the centre has immediately arranged for the attendees of both gatherings to undergo compulsory quarantine.   People who had stayed at 37 Fuk Wing Street from April 15 to May 5 have to undergo compulsory testing before May 7.   The workplaces of two attendees of the above gathering will also be put under compulsory testing notices. They are Urban Bakery Works on 3/F, Landmark Atrium and Oliver's the Delicatessen on 2/F, Landmark Prince's.   For Fung Hing House, a compulsory testing notice was issued on May 3 due to the results of sewage sample tests.
