FS visits biomedical firm in UK

Financial Secretary Paul Chan yesterday visited a biopharmaceutical company and the Royal College of Art, and attended a lunch hosted by the China-Britain Business Council, as part of his ongoing trip to London.   Mr Chan visited AstraZeneca and met the company’s senior management to learn about its drug research and development activities, as well as its latest expansion plans.   AstraZeneca indicated that following in-depth talks with Hong Kong’s Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises, it plans to develop a research and development centre in Hong Kong and will engage in further discussion with relevant government departments on the matter.   The Financial Secretary then attended a roundtable luncheon held by the China-Britain Business Council, and met representatives of British enterprises that do business, or plan to do business, either in the Mainland or Hong Kong.   Mr Chan later visited the Royal College of Art, which collaborated with the Hong Kong Polytechnic Unive

1 imported COVID-19 case found

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating one additional COVID-19 case involving a 43-year-old man who arrived from the UK.   The centre also announced that, taking into consideration the epidemiological information and genetic sequencing findings, it has amended the classification of a case involving a 27-year-old man, case number 11902, from a local case with unknown sources to epidemiologically linked with imported cases.   Another case involving a 24-year-old woman, case number 11918, which is epidemiologically linked to this case, will also be reclassified to the same category.   A total of 42 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, including 40 imported cases and two import-related cases.   The centre also reminded people in relation to Wan Hang House of Wan Tau Tong Estate in Tai Po to undergo testing in accordance with the compulsory testing notice on June 30.   For information and health advice on COVID-19, visit the Government's dedicated webpage.
