Feb exports value down 0.8%

The value of Hong Kong’s total exports decreased to $284.1 billion in February, down 0.8% on the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.   The value of imports of goods fell 1.8% to $325.7 billion for the same period.   A trade deficit of $41.7 billion, or 12.8% of the value of imports, was recorded in February.   Comparing the three-month period ending February with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of exports rose 5.5%, while that of imports also increased 3.3%.   The Government noted that taking the first two months of the year together to remove the volatility caused by the difference in timing of the Lunar New Year, the value of exports posted a 16.6% growth against a very low base of comparison a year ago.   Exports to the Mainland and the US rose notably, while those to the European Union fell. 4.34m vaccine jabs administered

About 4,341,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 2,565,200 people receiving their first dose and around 1,776,300 getting their second dose.   Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 1,071,600 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 1,493,600 people have received the BioNTech one.   For the second dose, about 732,900 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 1,043,500 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.   About 64,000 people received jabs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.   About 7,200 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 15,300 people received their second dose.   For the BioNTech vaccine, about 16,100 people received their first dose and about 25,400 people received their second dose.   The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at community vaccination centres is about 98%, while it is 99% for the BioNTech one.   As of 8pm, about 4,600 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 24,900 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.   As of midnight, seven people were sent to hospitals.
