FS visits biomedical firm in UK

Financial Secretary Paul Chan yesterday visited a biopharmaceutical company and the Royal College of Art, and attended a lunch hosted by the China-Britain Business Council, as part of his ongoing trip to London.   Mr Chan visited AstraZeneca and met the company’s senior management to learn about its drug research and development activities, as well as its latest expansion plans.   AstraZeneca indicated that following in-depth talks with Hong Kong’s Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises, it plans to develop a research and development centre in Hong Kong and will engage in further discussion with relevant government departments on the matter.   The Financial Secretary then attended a roundtable luncheon held by the China-Britain Business Council, and met representatives of British enterprises that do business, or plan to do business, either in the Mainland or Hong Kong.   Mr Chan later visited the Royal College of Art, which collaborated with the Hong Kong Polytechnic Unive

7.68m vaccine doses given

About 7,685,400 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 4,182,800 people receiving their first dose and around 3,502,600 getting their second dose.   Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 1,533,300 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 2,649,500 people got the BioNTech one.   For the second dose, about 1,308,200 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 2,194,400 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.   About 47,700 people received jabs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.   Around 5,500 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 9,300 people received their second dose.   For the BioNTech vaccine, about 15,200 people received their first dose and around 17,700 people got their second dose.   The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine and the BioNTech one at community vaccination centres is about 97%.   As of 8pm, about 1,600 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 8,000 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.   As of midnight, 13 people were sent to hospitals.
