3 imported COVID-19 cases detected

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating three additional imported COVID-19 cases involving the L452R mutant strain.   The two patients who flew in from Indonesia and the Philippines were found positive for the virus upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport.   The other patient who arrived from the US via Japan tested positive during quarantine at Penny’s Bay Quarantine Centre.   Since a preliminary positive imported case had stayed in Hong Kong during the incubation period, seven specified premises are included in the compulsory testing notice. Also, people who had been present at four places in relation to two previous imported cases who had stayed in Hong Kong during the incubation period have to undergo additional testing. Those who have completed a COVID-19 vaccination course still need to get tested.   Furthermore, eight schools where an outbreak of upper respiratory tract infection or influenza-like illness occurred has been covered in the same compulsory testing notice. People who have finished their jab course can be exempted.   A total of 33 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.   For information and health advice on COVID-19, visit the Government’s dedicated webpage.
