CE meets Philippine senate president

Chief Executive John Lee today met visiting Philippine Senate President Juan Miguel Fernandez Zubiri to exchange views on matters of common interest.   Mr Lee said Hong Kong and the Philippines have maintained close exchanges and co-operation in various fields such as trade, investment and finance, and that Hong Kong is an important trading and investment partner for the Philippines and other Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries. He encouraged more Philippine enterprises and talent to develop in Hong Kong and make better use of its professional services and internationalised business environment for expanding into Mainland markets, including those of the Greater Bay Area.   As the city is striving for early entry to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, the Chief Executive thanked the Philippines for its support in Hong Kong’s bid for accession. http://dlvr.it/SplQxC

Ed chief to visit Zhejiang, Shanghai

Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin will depart for Zhejiang and Shanghai on April 10.   The goal of her visit to both places is to learn about their developments in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM) and early childhood education as well as teacher training.      In Zhejiang, Dr Choi will call at the China Academy of Art, Zhejiang Shuren University, Hangzhou Normal University and Alibaba Group and tour Anji County to study the Anji Play for early childhood education.   She will then proceed to Shanghai to visit East China Normal University and Shanghai Normal University and meet Hong Kong youths stationed in the city.   The education chief will also call on officials of Zhejiang Province and Shanghai Municipality to discuss education interflow and co-operation.   Dr Choi will return to Hong Kong on April 13. During her absence, Under Secretary for Education Sze Chun-fai will be Acting Secretary.
