Kai Tak site accident being probed

The Government expressed that it is highly concerned about an accident involving the collapse of a bamboo scaffold at a Kai Tak construction site today in which two workers were killed and three others injured.   A preliminarily investigation by the Buildings Department (BD) found that the scaffold, measuring about 15m by 8m, fell to the ground from the external wall on the 19th floor of a building under construction.   The BD said it will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the incident, including whether the scaffold, as temporary works, complied with the Buildings Ordinance and whether the registered contractor and any related persons have properly discharged their responsibilities.   It added that if anyone is found in contravention of the ordinance, it will take follow-up actions, including instigating prosecution and referring to the Contractors Disciplinary Board for disciplinary proceedings.   The Labour Department (LD) also launched an immed

Expo civil service booth set

The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) will set up a booth at the Education & Careers Expo 2024 at the Convention & Exhibition Centre for four consecutive days from January 25.


Apart from publicising the work of the civil service and related information in its booth, the bureau for the first time will hold 19 sharing sessions under the Careers in the Government Talk Series at this year’s expo.


Serving civil servants from various bureaus and departments will share information about individual grades, job application and interview skills, career prospects, and stories from their day-to-day work. A question-and-answer session will be available for every talk.


Additionally, the Department of Justice, the Government Flying Service and the Civil Aviation Department will hold three thematic seminars on employment information of their departmental grades at the Careers Forum in Hall 1D.


Located at Hall 1D of the Convention & Exhibition Centre, the CSB booth will be open from 10am to 7pm from January 25 to 27, and 10am to 6pm on January 28.


There will be a game kiosk and souvenirs will be distributed while stocks last.
