Digital Economy Summit kicks off

The Digital Economy Summit 2024 kicked off today at the Convention & Exhibition Centre.   It is expected to attract over 4,000 attendees from close to 40 countries/regions to listen to insights from over 100 renowned technology visionaries, industry pioneers and business leaders from home and abroad on how cutting-edge technologies and innovative applications are reshaping the urban landscape and modern digital economy from the perspectives of sustainability, connectivity, and resilience.   With the theme “Smarter Technovation for All: Forging a Sustainable Future”, the two-day summit features an action-packed programme with eight thematic forums, examining a wide array of trending innovation and technology (I&T) topics and future developments in new quality productive forces, artificial intelligence (AI), business innovation, smart industrialisation and supply chain, smart mobility, new energy, smart finance, Web3.0, as well as smart living and inclusion.   The sum

Tech chief to visit Middle East

Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong will lead a delegation of representatives from the innovation and technology (I&T) sector on a visit to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on March 3, with a view to strengthening Hong Kong’s I&T co-operation with the two countries.


Prof Sun will visit Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 3 and 4, where he will attend the LEAP 2024 technology conference to inaugurate the Hong Kong Pavilion staged by the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation and Hong Kong Cyberport. He will also deliver a keynote speech at the conference on Hong Kong as the “super value-adder” in fostering global I&T collaboration.


The delegation will then visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates from March 5 to 7. Their itinerary includes meetings with local political, business and I&T leaders as well as visits to local I&T clusters and enterprises.


The tech chief will return to Hong Kong on March 8. During his absence, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Lillian Cheong will be Acting Secretary.
